Greater Spokane Inc. (GSI) and Spokane County are once again holding a free Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) distribution event to assist Spokane County small businesses and non-profits reduce barriers to reopening and continue operations to keep employees and the public safe. Spokane County again allocated CARES Act funds to purchase the PPE.
This free distribution event, called OPENTogether, provides small businesses with 49 and fewer employees and non-profits of any size with PPE supplies, including hand sanitizer, disinfecting cleaner, and both disposable and cloth facial coverings. Non-profits are encouraged to secure disposable masks for their volunteers to use to enable continuity of community volunteer support for our region.
What: Free Distribution of PPE for Small Businesses and Non-Profits
Location: Spokane County Fairgrounds, 404 N Havana Street, Spokane Valley
Date: Wednesday, September 23 and Thursday, September 24, 2020
Time: 9 am – 4 pm
Register: Business with 49 and fewer employees and non-profits of any size must register here prior to pick-up. Small businesses and non-profits must register to secure their allotment of PPE. Participants can select a day to pick up their PPE between 9 am and 4 pm either day; there is no need to arrive early due to concern of running out of supplies.
Chair of the Spokane County Board of Commissioners, Al French stated, “This second round of PPE distribution is part of our ongoing effort to keep businesses and non-profits in our community providing services to our community. We saw such a need and appreciation for the PPE in our first round, it was clear that a second round would be valued. Businesses and non-profits throughout the region have exhibited their commitment to follow strict guidelines for use of PPE and sanitation practices. Everyone is doing their part to get our economy on its feet again. As a board we will join them on this journey and use every tool at our disposal to help our community recover.”
“There continues to be great need, especially in our service industry and in non-profits that equip volunteers in their work,” said GSI CEO Alisha Benson. “This investment in the equipment to keep our businesses, non-profits and volunteers safe while serving our community is imperative to our region’s economic recovery.”
