Support local school district levies and bonds by voting Yes

The Feb. 13 special election is approaching quickly, and school districts need your support to pass levy and bond proposals.

These are replacement levies, and not new proposals from school districts. Funding from these levies goes toward essential classroom materials and extracurricular activities that enhance core curriculum classes.

In the upcoming special election, levies require a simple majority approval rate on ballots, while bonds require 60 percent approval. Unlike other requests for funding, such as EMS levies, school districts are exempt from a requirement of 40 percent voter turnout.

Dozens of individuals and businesses have voiced their support of these items in the last few months, and more are showing their support each week. You can add your name to the list.

In the latter part of 2017, GSI’s Board of Trustees unanimously voted to support bonds and levies in our region’s school districts.

How can you show your support and encourage others to vote? Pick up a window cling at our office, 801 W. Riverside Ave. Volunteer with your school district’s citizen’s group. Or, visit our website for our bonds and levies toolkit.
