GSI, in partnership with the Greater Spokane Valley Chamber of Commerce and West Plains Chamber of Commerce, is excited to present the State of the County address.

Spokane County Commissioner Josh Kerns leads this year's State of the County Address, sharing updates and new information about what's happening in the county government.

County Commissioner Josh Kerns

Josh is a lifelong resident of Spokane County where he attended Mead schools as a graduate of Mount Spokane High School. He earned an Associates Degree from Spokane Community College partly through the Running Start program, then transferred to Whitworth University where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management and later, a Masters Degree in Business Administration also from Whitworth University.

Previously, Josh worked for the Washington State Legislature as a Senior Legislative Assistant for State Representative Jeff Holy. He managed Rep. Holy's campaigns in 2012 and 2014, and prior to that, Josh served in the same capacity for former State Representative John Ahern.

In Olympia, Josh had worked in the House of Representatives for six regular sessions and more special sessions than he'd like to remember. In doing so, he gained knowledge of the legislative process and saw first-hand the major role that government plays in our everyday lives.

Josh is a small business owner. He owns a marketing company with his wife, Nichole, focusing on print media, websites and graphic design.

Josh and his wife are high school sweethearts and have been married since 2011. They have a son, a daughter, and two rescue dogs.
