Business AfterSchool: Spokane County Water Resources and CH2M
Spokane County Water Resources serves county residents with wastewater treatment and reclamation, water quality monitoring, rural water planning, aquifer and river protection, and presentations and educational activities. A global environmental and engineering firm, CH2M partnered with Spokane County to design, build and operate the Spokane County Regional Water Reclamation Facility. The workshop location is the Spokane County Water Resource Center adjacent to the reclamation facility.
Water reclamation careers encompass technology, engineering, natural sciences, and more! High School students will learn how a SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) system is used to control Spokane County’s state-of-the-art water reclamation facility. A hands-on activity will spotlight the treatment process that creates reclaimed water, energy and biosolids compost from wastewater.
