State of the City Address

Location: Spokane Convention Center (New Centennial Ballroom 300ABCD-East Entrance)
One vision. One plan. One voice.
It started as a conversation about jobs and economic growth between the Spokane Mayor David Condon and the Spokane City Council. Their common desire was to advance economic prosperity for individuals and families. Spokane wanted to open doors and create new opportunities for people.
A number of factors that will profoundly influence the success of the city's efforts emerged from the early discussions. The community’s collective safety, health and compassion, the sustainability of city infrastructure, and how Spokane differentiates itself as a city, all impact the area's economic vitality.
The city realized it was talking about an integrated strategic framework that advances the fundamentals identified in Spokane's Comprehensive Plan. This was a chance to foster an environment where people want to live and businesses want to invest and grow.
Meet the Speaker:
Mayor David A. Condon, City of Spokane
Born the same year that Spokane was preparing to shine on the global stage at Expo '74, Mayor David A. Condon grew up in a community that was safe for families, fertile for businesses, and naturally stunning. After David graduated Gonzaga Prep, he went on to earn his bachelor's degree in Finance and Military Science from Boston College. The first re-elected Mayor in Spokane in more than 40 years, Mayor Condon remains focused on many key initiatives which began during his first term – all aimed at making Spokane safer, stronger, and smarter. These include making investments in public safety, growing jobs and our economy, promoting a successful budget, improving Spokane's infrastructure, and increasing the quality of life.
Prior to becoming Mayor of the second largest city in Washington, Mayor Condon's distinguished professional career included serving in the United States Army, owning and operating small businesses, and serving as the Senior Staff in the US House of Representatives . David and his wife Kristin are thrilled to be raising their three children near many of their family members in Spokane – which was recently named an All-America City for the third time. He is committed to making sure Spokane grows and remains the City of Choice.
