Event Description:

Business AfterSchool: Digging for Knowledge



During this workshop, middle school students will get a company overview, engage in a job readiness discussion, take a facility tour, and participate in a simulation game called Digging for Knowledge. As part of the simulation students will be tasked to utilize STEM skills to solve a production problem. This fun exercise introduces people to STEM applications in the workplace as well as emphasizing the importance of soft skills such as collaboration, team building and communication.

Business AfterSchool is a series of industry skill workshopsproviding on-site awareness of Spokane’s high-demand industry sectors by highlighting new technology, research, development and innovation. Our region’s students, families and community are invited to engage in these career connected learning workshops that showcase the highly valued occupations and employment paths our industries incorporate. Students, parents, educators and local businesses gather together in the workplace for a real-time visit to see these industries in action.
