The Community Colleges of Spokane is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual for the position of Curriculum Advisor in the Student Services Division at Spokane Falls Community College.

SFCC is one of two accredited community colleges that comprise the Community Colleges of Spokane. We offer a large liberal arts/transfer program (approximately 75% of total enrollment) as well as state-of-the-art professional technical programs (about 25%). GENERAL DEFINITION
Under general direction of the Director of Admissions and Registration, this position will perform admissions and registration functions such as preparing documents and correspondence, entering student information into the college's database, and responding to inquiries. This position requires exercising independent judgment to make decisions while remaining compliant with rules and regulations when independently informing students, staff, and the public regarding course offerings, program and class pre-requisites, policies, procedures and activities, as well as selecting and recommending alternative courses of action.

CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Work at the main student service counter to assist students with Admissions & Registration processes. Respond to and interact with prospective students about admissions requirements, general program information, enrollment process, and general campus resources to support student's success. *
  • Process registration forms and provide information to students on registration processes.*
  • Answer telephone, web inquiries, and correspondence regarding entrance requirements and processes and program/college information.*
  • Meet with students and inform potential program applicants of program pre-requisites. *
  • Answer questions, research and problem solve staff, student and public inquiries and inform students of student services available to them. *
  • Attend various team, registration, advisory committees and other meetings. *
  • Coordinate, schedule and monitor program activities with counselors, instructors and deans. *
  • Support new student orientations, registration events, and other activities to register new and current students. *
  • Maintain related databases to process work. Provide information and statistics on related processes as requested.*
  • Serve as college subject matter expert regarding registration procedures.*
  • May back-up other areas in the department as assigned or needed.
  • May attend other meetings and events as assigned.
  • Support and advance the CCS strategic plan, and perform other duties as assigned. *

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS)

 

 

  • Associates degree from an accredited institution.
  • Two years of experience in Student Services or related area.
  • Experience using a Student Management System (PeopleSoft).
  • Experience with admissions and registration requirements and procedures.


CONDITIONS/TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
* TOTAL COMPENSATION: $46,299.
Total compensation is an estimate based upon base compensation, current employer-paid health and related benefit contribution rates and median retirement fund contributions. The actual total will vary depending upon each employee's enrollment choices.

Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment. An offer of employment will not carry with it any responsibility or obligation on the part of the District to sponsor an H1-B visa. In addition, the Community Colleges of Spokane maintains a drug-free work environment and prohibits all smoking in the college buildings and state-owned vehicles. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

 

 

  • Position is eligible for overtime
  • 6 month Probationary Period; May be extended to 12 months
  • Requires criminal background check
  • This position is designated a bargaining unit position
