Home Care Aide Instructor - Adjunct (Colville, WA)

Community College of Spokane seeks qualified candidates for consideration of employment in this adjunct (part-time) position. Classes will be taught in the morning, afternoon, evenings or weekends. As an adjunct instructor you will share your experience and passion for providing home care. Using the approved curriculum (75-hours), you will develop the professional skills, knowledge and attitudes for long-term care workers, as well as facilitate continuing education classes.

This position is based out of Stevens County (Colville, WA).



  • Teach curriculum as outlined in the Instructor and Student guides
  • Represent the Community Colleges of Spokane through professional communication with all stakeholders
  • Facilitate preparation for students to take the state certification exam
  • Be available to accept training class assignments six days a week plus evenings
  • Be flexible and available to assist with special projects and for covering other instructor's classes if scheduling allows.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (Minimum Qualifications):



  • An active Washington State Registered Nurse License in good standing, with 5-years work experience in a Long Term Care setting. OR an Associate's degree or higher in Health or Human Services and six months of professional or caregiving experience within the last five years in a long-term care community setting. OR a mix of specific knowledge, training, and work experience relevant to providing direct personal care or other relevant services to the elderly or persons with disabilities requiring long-term care
  • Utilize a variety of teaching styles and methods to accommodate diverse learning styles of students
  • Excellent customer service , organizational and motivational skills
  • Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Acceptance of the responsibility to promote the welfare and best interests of students at all times.
  • A demonstrable understanding and acceptance of the mission, values, goals and objectives of CCS.
  • The ability to perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and goals of the institution, community and technical college system.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning and working environment that honors diversity, equity and inclusion.

PREFERRED COMPETENCIES (Desirable Qualifications):



  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, afternoons, evenings and/or weekends.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, Canvas, the internet and other software programs.
  • Ability to safely carry and transport heavy loads, up to 50 pounds, on a daily basis.
  • Bilingualism


This is an adjunct (part-time) position. Hours vary and include weekends. Compensation will be pro-rated according to the amount of workload assigned. CCS reserves the right to cancel this recruitment without notice. Academic employees are represented by the Association of Higher Education (AHE), which is affiliated with NEA and WEA. Membership is optional.
