The 2019 State Legislative Priority Agenda represents a targeted advocacy approach for our region. With a prioritized agenda, we can target specific legislative goals and unify the community around the most essential items that have the broadest regional impact. This agenda helps us to focus each year's energies on the issues that matter most and serves as our guide during the annual Olympia Fly-in each January.

Make sure your voice is part of the conversation – get involved with GSI's Public Policy and advocacy efforts!

GSI's Public Policy committees play a major role in the development of each year's agenda. If you'd like to take part in the process, contact VP, Communications & Public Affairs Cara Coon.

Join business and community leaders on our annual Olympia Fly-in trip to meet with elected officials and top staff at the state level, to help advance our region’s policy priorities and issues that impact your business. You’ll make new contacts and build solid relationships at our high-level receptions throughout the trip.

If you'd like to be part of the unified legislative advocacy delegation of community leaders and regional business representatives that head to the state capitol in January, contact the GSI Events team or visit our Olympia and DC Fly-in page.

  • At the state level, we have advocated for full funding of the State Need Grant so that all eligible students can access critical financial aid and prepare for entering the workforce
  • In collaboration with more than 10 of the largest chambers of commerce in the state, we have worked to defeat multiple proposed tax increases and new regulations that would have hurt our economy, and we continue to pursue policies in workers compensation and unemployment insurance that provide cost savings to employers and reduce the regulatory burden on businesses.
