Jr. FIRST LEGO League Robotics Teams – SPS

Age Range: 3-4th Grade, K-2nd Grade

FIRST LEGO League Jr. is designed to introduce STEM concepts to kids ages 6 to 10 while exciting them through a brand they know and love − LEGO®. Teams begin meeting in October to prepare for the Jr FIRST LEGO League (JrFLL) competition. Each team will get one Simple Machines, one Simple Motorized Machines, and one WeDo kit. Students will build a LEGO model (that moves) to solve a world problem and design a Show Me Poster to present at the event. Students will operate under JrFLL’s Core Values: celebrating discovery, teamwork, and Gracious Professionalism®. 

  • Number of students served per team: 6
  • Grades served: K-3rd 
  • What you'll need to offer this club at school: Computer lab/COW
  • Space needed to offer club at school: Classroom
  • Two $500 stipends paid by SPS (included in the extra-curricular budget)
  • Team registrations, LEGOs, PD provided by SPS
  • Offered during fall or spring
  • Teams meet before or after school, 2 or 3 days per week for 6-8 weeks
