Inland NW World Trade Day: May 5

world trade dayGreater Spokane Incorporated, in partnership with the US Commercial Service, is excited to host Inland NW World Trade Day on May 5. This full-day event is dedicated to international trade education and connecting businesses to export opportunities. Programming will be relevant for businesses interested in expanding their exports as well as those seeking to enter the export market for the first time.

This inaugural event will include a World Economic Forecast from John Shin, senior G10 FX strategist at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and a luncheon keynote: Seven Secrets of Successful Exporters from Dr. Lee Boam, retired US Foreign Service Officer (Diplomat). Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers will also join us for a special presentation of the Export Achievement Award.

Two tracks of breakout sessions will cover topics that include:

• Canada: Maximizing Your Trade Opportunity
• Using the Internet to Find Buyers Globally
• Export Opportunities for Manufacturers
• Creating a Global Business in the Inland NW
• International Taxes and Financial Statements
• Export 101: How to Get Started for New-to-Export Businesses
• Trans Pacific Partnership: An Introduction

The Spokane-Spokane Valley MSA exported $2.2 billion in goods and services in 2014 (Brookings Institution). And, with 95% of the world’s consumers and 70% of its purchasing power living outside the US, the export market represents huge opportunities for local businesses. As international commerce has become a staple of the 21st century economy, our region continues to become more interconnected with global markets.

Inland NW World Trade Day will capitalize on this trend and congregate international trade experts, government officials, and businesses in one place to learn from each other. We hope you can join us for what is sure to be both educational and fun event!

Breakfast, lunch and reception included! Register for Inland NW World Trade Day here.
