Continuing their collaboration, Volunteers of America (VOA) and Transitions invite the Spokane community to participate in a variety of ways to help women experiencing homelessness. This year, Mardi Bras is asking for donations of tampons, bras, underwear, deodorant, razors, and bus passes. Community members can participate in MULTIPLE ways:
Throw a virtual or in person Mardi Bras party to raise awareness of the barriers facing women experiencing poverty and homelessness.
Become a fundraiser through the Spokane Mardi Bras site: https://bit.ly/3YsbK0O
Share about Mardi Bras on Facebook (@spokanemardibras).
Purchase items on the cultivated Amazon wish list that can be found on the Volunteers of America website. Donate money via cash, check written to VOA or Transitions
Drop off your donations at the Drive-Thru Drop-off event on Friday, March 3rd, anytime between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm at Hope House shelter located at 318 S. Adams St. Founded in 2017, Mardi Bras is a grassroots donation drive and fundraiser supporting both Volunteers of America’s Hope House and Transitions’ Women’s Hearth. In its seventh year, the event focuses on removing the barriers of feminine hygiene products and undergarments for women experiencing homelessness. Community members host house parties as donation drives and the Mardi Bras season culminates at the Drive-Thru Drop-Off.
