MEET THE PRODUCERS

Rio Alberto is a Chicano artist and educator based in Spokane, Washington. Raised in central Washington, Alberto relocated to Chicago to work and study theatre and lighting. Since then, Rio has worked across the country as an artist and educator and has performed in Man of La Mancha (Sancho Panza), The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Leaf Coneybear), and Titus Andronicus (Chiron). Most recently on stage in the world premiere of “Devilfish” from celebrated Tlingit playwright and author Vera Starbard, Rio is currently Director of Marketing and Engagement for Perseverance Theatre, Alaska’s premier regional theatre.

Melody Chang Heaton is currently the Director of Marketing for Inland Northwest Opera. Her automotive and mechanical skills shined when she joined the team that built INO’s widely-acclaimed Opera Truck, allowing INO to bring opera to kids in the region for free on a moving concert stage. She serves as the Vice President of the Board of Directors for Communities in Schools of Spokane County as well as an advisory board member for the Spokane Symphony, the Spokane chapter of the Asian Pacific Islander Coalition (APIC Spokane), and the upcoming Spokane Valley Performing Arts Center. She gladly shares her industry expertise with arts organizations worldwide, serving on the board for Asian Opera Alliance (based in Indiana), assisting with social media for Spokane Arts (local), and handling marketing for the young artist program, Canto Vocal Program (based in NYC, Paris).
