GSI Launches “IN Schools” Education Campaign to Connect Community, Celebrate Local Schools, Strengthen Education System

Yesterday, at the first annual State of Education event, businesses, students, educators, and community members gathered to discuss the current state of education, key challenges facing school districts, innovative solutions underway, and opportunities to strengthen connections between the community and schools to improve student outcomes.

As part of the program, GSI unveiled a new initiative and five-year campaign called IN Schools, designed to build relationships and support schools through proactive storytelling and strategic communication support. .

Unlike election campaigns, IN Schools showcases inspiring stories of students, staff, and districts while educating the community about key concepts such as school finances, property taxes, and investment in education.

Several school districts and business partners have already committed to supporting this initiative.

“Our future as a region depends on strong schools,” said Erin Vincent, VP of Education & Talent for Greater Spokane Inc. “That’s why we’re launching the annual State of Education event and the IN Schools initiative. We cannot afford to sit on the sidelines on this. That is why GSI is using our voice on behalf of schools. Our goal includes building a bridge to foster trust and strengthen connections between our community and schools. We are committed to supporting a thriving education ecosystem because when our schools succeed, our entire region prospers.”

The new State of Education event and the IN Schools initiative are part of GSI’s broader mission to build, champion, and retain a talented workforce. GSI’s Education and Talent Alliance—a group of more than 40 business and education leaders—along with its Board and Councilmembers, is critical in creating opportunities for students, schools, and businesses to thrive.

Moderated by Dr. Adam Swinyard, Superintendent of Spokane Public Schools, the event featured regional K-12 superintendents who shared insights on workforce readiness, the evolving role of education, and collective strategies to address the challenges facing students and schools today. Discussions included how schools best serve their communities and students to set them up for success, find more ways to innovate in schools, and access funding for important programs that create opportunities for students from all backgrounds to succeed.

The launch of IN Schools would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our business and education partners. We extend our gratitude to the school districts and businesses that have already pledged their support to help elevate trust in our local schools.
