Health Care Week Brings Students Inside Area Businesses

Health Care Week, part of our Business AfterSchool series, brought more than 150 students from the greater Spokane region to health care organizations to see what it is like to work in a health care setting.

The goal of Business AfterSchool and the industry weeks we feature is to get students thinking about careers at an early age. These industry weeks allow students to figure out what they want to do and what they might not want to do. Students tour area companies, ask questions, and figure out what kind of education they would need to land a job in a particular industry.

The companies and organizations participating in Health Care Week included:

Community Health Association of Spokane (CHAS)
Inland Northwest Blood Center (INBC)
Inland Northwest Health Services (INHS)
St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute
Therapeutic Associates Physical Therapy
Fairchild Air Force Base – Military Treatment Facility

Future industry weeks include:
Manufacturing Week: Oct. 6 – 10, 2014
Computer Science Week: Dec. 8 – 12, 2014
