Tainio Technology and Technique, Inc., a family-owned company pioneering the development of sustainable, biological agriculture and farm products, recently held a ground-breaking ceremony for their new Spokane County headquarters.

At 13,650 square feet, the single level, wood framed building will consist of offices, laboratories, warehousing, and research and production facilities.  The project is planned for completion in December of 2016.  Tainio plans to bring on additional employees once the facility is complete.   Baker Construction & Development, Inc. is the general contractor on the project.

“Our company is proud to bring this project to life,” said Barry Baker, President, Baker Construction & Development, Inc.  “Tainio Technology’s new corporate facility will allow them to continue to innovate, and grow their company and their products worldwide.”

As part of Greater Spokane Incorporated’s Economic Development Expansion Program, GSI assisted Tainio in gaining approval for a pilot economic development program through the Department of Revenue. The pilot program requires two projects to be from Eastern Washington.  Should Tainio decide to use the program, it allows for a five year tax deferral on the sales and use tax on the construction of a manufacturing facility.

Companies using the pilot program are permitted to invest their business taxes into workforce-training programs that support manufacturing businesses in the state.  This program was passed by the 2015 Washington State Legislature under the leadership of Senator Sharon Brown of Kennewick, as part of her Invest in Washington Jobs Act.

“We appreciate Tainio Technology and Technique’s long term engagement with our GSI team,” said Todd Mielke, CEO of Greater Spokane Incorporated.  “Their work in research and development of these sustainable products is resulting in healthier foods for the worldwide consumer.”

GSI’s Procurement Technical Assistance Center (PTAC) also assisted Tainio in obtaining their woman-owned business certification, and GSI staff worked with Tainio on the Washington State Sales and Use Tax Exemption for Manufacturing Machinery & Equipment program.

In addition to sales throughout the United States, Tainio products are also distributed in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Central America.

Tainio is a member of Greater Spokane Incorporated.
