Big Ideas Start Small

Introducing GSI Free Connect – a new initiative and member partnership tier for microbusinesses, startups, and independently-owned restaurants

At Greater Spokane Inc. (GSI), we know that big ideas often come from small beginnings. That’s why we’ve launched GSI Free Connect, a new program that provides real access to the resources and support micro businesses need to grow and thrive.

Backed by Canopy Credit Union and RiverBank, GSI Free Connect is designed to break down barriers for some of our region’s smallest but most essential businesses—startups, solo entrepreneurs, homegrown restaurants, and businesses with three or fewer employees. These businesses are the heart of Spokane’s economy, and they need the visibility and tools they deserve to thrive.

What Makes GSI Free Connect Different? This program isn’t about checking boxes or offering generic support. It’s about real access—to knowledge, connections, and community. Participants don’t just get encouragement—they get integrated into Spokane’s regional business ecosystem.

Here’s what’s included:

      • Entrepreneur-Focused Zoom Events – Informative sessions led by local experts and business leaders

      • Business Resource Communications – Relevant updates and curated tools delivered regularly

      • Visibility in GSI’s Online Partner Directory – Be discovered by potential customers, collaborators, and community champions

      • Free U.S. Chamber of Commerce Membership – Additional national-level resources at your fingertips

    Who’s It For?

        • Locally owned micro businesses (3 or fewer employees)

        • Sole proprietors and startups

        • Independently owned restaurants with a single location

We know access is everything. Whether it’s a conversation that sparks a collaboration, a connection that leads to a new customer, or a program that builds confidence—this initiative is about opening doors.

“Small businesses are the heartbeat of our community,” said Alisha Benson, CEO of GSI. “GSI Free Connect ensures they have the tools and relationships they need to thrive—not just survive.”

What’s Next? If you’re a small business owner ready to plug in, or if you know someone who is, we invite you to learn more and apply here.

Spokane succeeds when we all have a seat at the table. Let’s make room – and create opportunity – for the businesses building tomorrow’s economy, today.

      * Note: All GSI member partners receive the benefits of the GSI Free Connect member partnership, plus MORE.
