Greater Spokane Incorporated congratulates Gonzaga University and the University of Washington on their partnership to expand medical education and research in Spokane. GSI has been a long-time supporter of the expansion of the WWAMI program in our region as part of a broader, comprehensive community vision called Vision 2030. Vision 2030, built on a foundation of four-year undergraduate and graduate medical education, will lead to the growth of life sciences research, commercialization and business development that is projected to drive an unprecedented 20-year economic impact of $1.7 billion annually and create more than 9,000 jobs for our region. This is a critical part of the broad range of health care workforce educational programs supported by our entire university and community college system, and is literally transforming our local economy by leveraging our community’s largest economic driver – our healthcare industry. This partnership is building on the legacy, talent and strengths of two world-class educational institutions. On behalf of GSI, we offer our continued support and partnership.
