“Let’s Talk About Race” is the title of a virtual public presentation by author Clyde W. Ford of Bellingham, Wash., scheduled for 6:30 pm Thursday, Nov. 19, and sponsored by the Hagan Center at Spokane Community College. It will be livestreamed to YouTube and can be accessed from scc.spokane.edu/live

Ford presents the program around the state for Humanities Washington and is an award-winning author of 13 works of fiction and non-fiction. His most recent book, THINK BLACK, is a memoir about his father, the first Black software engineer in America. It was published in September 2019 by Amistad/HarperCollins. His books include “We CAN All Get Along: 50 Steps You Can Take To Help End Racism” and “The Long Mile.”

Ford has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show, New Dimensions Radio and National Public Radio. Earlier in his life, he worked as a software engineer and later he became a practicing chiropractor. After moving to Bellingham, he taught African American History at Western Washington University and won several awards for his literary work.

Ford’s presentation is more of a discussion on race in modern-day America with a heavy emphasis on audience participation.
