Sparking Curiosity with Mobius

Having two locations provides Mobius the opportunity to spark curiosity in kids and adults of all ages. The children’s museum, located in the lower level of River Park Square, sparks the curiosity of children ages 8 and younger through exploration, play, and the arts. The science center, located across from Riverfront Park and overlooking the Spokane falls, amazes people ages 8 to 108 with STEM-based exhibits and skill-building activities. Together, the children’s museum and science center provide a unique continuum of experiential learning that cultivates critical thinking and problem-solving abilities – foundational skills that create lifelong learners.

Mobius provides programming in both locations that include camps, classes, STEM workshops, and field trips. Programs span all ages, we have kids 2-8 years old attending Toddler + Me classes and camps at the children’s museum, Weekend Lab experiences for the whole family at the science center; all the way to adults dissecting a cow eyeball during an after-hours Nerd Night for 21-year-olds and older in The Lab at the science center. The challenge for our educators is to figure out how to engage all ages to learn, play and create.

Through our Mobius on the Move outreach program our educators bring STEM education to classrooms, clubs, community centers, and schools throughout our region. Last year, Mobius on the Move impacted over 10,000 students.

STEM is incredibly prevalent in skilled trades and plays a role in many careers, not just jobs that require a science degree. We want to help students and visitors to feel comfortable in a world where science is all around us. We hope that Mobius will have a hand in inspiring future astronauts, engineers, teachers, artists, construction workers, and doctors.

As a nonprofit, Mobius relies on visitation and memberships, as well as, the support of our community and donors to help us fulfill our mission! Between our education programs, STEM partnerships, Mobius Scholarship Program, community partners, and volunteers we believe Mobius is making a difference to everyone one in our community.
