Business AfterSchool Health Care Week: A wellness check for your future!

Business AfterSchool is a series of industry-week workshops that provides on-site experiences in some of Spokane’s highest-demand employment sectors. Students, educators and parents gain perspectives about new technology, research, development and innovation, while gaining insight about how to best get on track now for a future career.

Health Care Week provides a real-life look at organizations that provide health-related care while highlighting the training and skills required to work in the field. Health science is one of our region’s fastest growing industries, representing 18.5 percent of the employment base. Participants have the opportunity to experience a variety of different settings, including a paramedic program and emergency medicine on the ground. The Carrington, CHAS and St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute sessions offer clinical settings, and will offer high school students a rare opportunity to experience real-life in-the-moment treatment. A roundtable discussion during the WSU session will give students the opportunity to speak directly with professors from several different career tracks offered through the health sciences school and gain valuable insight into each career’s education and professional aspects.
