Did you know the government buys just about anything? More than $64 million in government contracts were given to local businesses in 2024. For some of these companies, the contracts make up a significant part of their revenue for the year. The vast majority are small businesses spanning all industries including janitorial, fire suppression, manufacturing, distribution, trucking, solid waste, construction, laundry cleaning, elevator maintenance, and more.

Recently, large government purchasers and businesses came together to meet, learn, and do business at our annual Meet the BIGS! event, presented by STCU and in partnership with Fairchild Air Force Base. The event featured representatives from federal agencies, state government, and prime contractors, and was hosted by GSI, via our government contracting partner – Washington Apex Accelerator (APEX). APEX exists to advise businesses on how to win government contracts and works to maximize the number of capable U.S. companies participating in the government marketplace. APEX equips your business with understanding requirements and marketing know-how to do business with the government.

Government Contracting is an Economic Driver

This year, APEX assisted businesses in its 11-county region with securing more than 1,682 contracts for 250 clients/businesses, worth $64,133,843 million (in our 11-county region). Not only do these contracts help these companies sustain and grow, but they also create long-term business investments and economic impact in our community.

The Government Can Be Your Customer. The APEX Program is Your Key to Navigation

Through APEX, you receive personalized support, including market research, proposal assistance, and securing bids. In addition:

  • GSI member partners receive a one-year complimentary subscription to Bid Match ($165 value), which connects your business with these contracting opportunities.
  • Your business can receive one-on-one counseling to help set you up for success.
  • There are unique opportunities available for veteran-owned, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses.

The program has already helped countless Spokane businesses secure contracts and grow sustainably.
