Math in every industry

A New Partner for Spokane STEM and our Students

Written by Jerry Post, Director, Mathnasium

You’ve no doubt read articles and heard stories (maybe within your own family!) of new college graduates saddled with tens of thousands of dollars in student loans.  Making matters worse, their field of study hasn’t prepared them to find a good-paying job in today’s ultra-competitive job market.

While there are no guarantees in life, students who love numbers and math have a world of career opportunities across virtually every industry.  The list of career fields that require strong math skills is long and diverse, here in the Spokane area and all around the country:

Mechanical Engineer
Biochemist
Economist
Video Game Designer
Robotics Engineer
Financial Advisor
Actuary
Research Analyst
Marine Architect
Statistician
Computer programmer
Physicist
Geneticist
Accountant
Aerospace Engineer
Pharmacist

The job opportunities are there, and so are the financial rewards.  Many of these professions pay an average salary well over $100,000.  Best of all, these are the type of meaningful careers that are improving our lives and changing the world.

You’re seeing those opportunities grow right here in Spokane, particularly in biotech and with all the exciting developments surrounding the new Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine.  Spokane STEM now has a new partner to help develop the next generation of doctors, engineers, computers programmers, and so much more.  Mathnasium of Spokane is a brand new math instruction center for kids of all ages and skill levels.  To connect to the Mathnasium method, access math blogs and connect to this new resource in our community, click here.
