Small Business Saturday

Every year since 2010 Small Business Saturday has been celebrated the Saturday after Thanksgiving, meaning this year it’ll take place on the 30th of November. Small Business Saturday is obviously very close to our hearts as over 70% of our members are small business’ and small business makes up 99% of the business community nationwide. The day was created by American Express in 2010 as a way to support local retailers, and in 2011 the senate passed a resolution in support with all 50 states participating as well. By 2013 more than 1,400 organizations signed up as neighborhood champions to support the cause and nearly 100 corporations officially supported it as well. This cause has grown every year and has now reached a reported estimate of $103 billion since 2010.

So why should you care about Small Business Saturday? because you all are the lifeblood of the Spokane region, everything you do makes a difference in our community and impacts our economy. For every dollar spent at a small business 67 cents stays local and $68 out of every $100 stays local. You really can make a big impact, so on Saturday November 30th make sure you stop by your local cafe or coffee shop. You could also get some holiday shopping out of the way by shopping at local stores and retailers, and help us all make a positive impact on Spokane and it’s small business’.
