2025 Economic Forecast Shares Economy will Continue to Grow but at a Slower Pace

Yesterday, more than 500 business representatives and students attended the 2025 Economic Forecast, presented by U.S. Bank, featuring local economists Steve Scranton, Chief Economist, Washington Trust Bank; Dr. Vange Hochheimer, Professor of Economics and Finance, Whitworth University; and Dr. Grant Forsyth, Chief Economist, Avista Corp.

Sharing local, national, and international influences, we learned that it’s likely that the economy will grow at a slower pace next year. This year’s theme was “Embracing Growth in Uncertain Times.” The event was held just one day after the Election sparking questions about potential shifts in international trade, tariffs, wages, workforce and job growth, the lack of affordable housing, and healthcare challenges.

The Annual Economic Forecast is held in collaboration with GSI partner the Spokane Journal of Business and could not have been possible without the support of our Presenting Sponsor – U.S. Bank; our Executive Sponsors – Alaska Airlines and Idaho Central Credit Union; Major Sponsors – Baker Construction, Doordash, Gesa Credit Union, and Kalispel Tribe of Indians; Supporting Sponsors Community Colleges of Spokane and Global Credit Union; and Event Sponsor Whitworth University.

Check out the video of the event below and refer back to some of the economic information coming down the pipeline for 2025. If you have questions about this event or want to sign up as a sponsor, contact our events team.
