Economic Development: Metro ranking points to Spokane advantage

up trend

The Spokane economy is experiencing more than six consecutive months of employment growth as recognized by SYNEVA Economics, an Asheville, North Carolina, private research and information firm focused on regional economic analysis. They recently named the Spokane-Spokane Valley MSA as one of the top metro high-growth leaders on their Metro Watch List. This ranking evaluates metros with average hourly earnings above the national metro average and their average annual growth rate of earnings. Spokane-Spokane Valley’s average hourly earnings of $23.61 is 5.3% higher than the US metro average of $22.42.

The firm indicates that their analysis may reflect the local impact of stronger labor demand or a unique mix of high-wage industries that are driving growth, which aligns with results from our regional Employment Security Department.
