Associated Industries in partnership with Greater Spokane Incorporated and the Greater Minds Initiative, announced today the award of thirteen scholarships to area students attending Community Colleges of Spokane this Fall. Each scholarship is equal to 50% of the cost of tuition for the 2018-2019 academic year in support of scholars enrolled full time pursuing advanced degrees or academic certification in one of four areas of study: Health Science, Business, Technology and Industrial Manufacturing Technology.

Associated Industries – Bright Promise scholarships are awarded on an annual basis and selected
from a pool of applicants provided through the Financial Aid office of Eastern Washington
University and Community Colleges of Spokane. Each application is reviewed/selected by a
committee of community volunteers who consider; grade point average, community involvement
and personal recommendations with additional consideration given to veterans and nontraditional
students.

Associated Industries was joined this year by Greater Spokane Incorporated and the Greater
Minds Initiative which supports working adults as they return to school to finish their degree or
certificate. Greater Minds is a collaboration of our higher education and business communities
with the goal of increasing the proportion of residents in our region with high-quality certificates
or degrees from 40 percent to 60 percent by 2025.

Since inception in 2009, a total of 254 Bright Promise scholarships have been awarded to
students attending Eastern Washington University or Community Colleges of Spokane.
