Scholastic Chess Tournament
Saturday, December 9, 2023
Open to all K-12 students. Awards presented to winners and top school club team. Parents are welcome to play in the parents tournament. No charge.

Register: eMail, phone, or text. Then pay at tournament.
Include player’s name, school, and grade. Phone or text: 509-822-9800
Fee: Early registration fee: $20 by 8:00 pm, Fri., Dec. 8.
Late registration and walk-in fee: $25
$1 of each registration fee is donated to the scholarship fund.
Schedule: Check in 9:00 to 9:30 am. First round begins at 10:00 am.
Players arriving after 9:40 am will not be paired in the first round.
Rounds 2-5 will begin within soon after the completion of the last game of the prior round.
Awards ceremony immediately follows completion of fifth game.
Awards are usually completed before 4:00 pm.

Format: Five round Swiss. G/30. All students play all five games. Divisions are set by directors
after registration has been completed. Tournaments are rated by the Northwest Rating

Medical: Please notify registration desk regarding potential medical issues with players.
Byes may be requested. Students are encouraged to get as much tournament play as their schedules
permits. Rules of chess, sportsmanship, camaraderie, and team building are benefits learned while
attending tournaments. The many benefits of chess received are directly proportional to the quality of
study and the number of games played in serious competition.

Three points (in one regional tournament) are required to qualify for the WA State Elementary
Championship Tournament, May 4, 2024, Tri-Cities, WA
