Lunch and Learn: B Corp Certification

In August, The Business Roundtable, an association of approximately 200 of America’s largest companies, decided to update their principles for corporate governance. This move signifies a shift away from the business as usual, profit-at-all-costs model. In the spirit of multi-stakeholder capitalism, B Corp Certification provides businesses with a framework in which they can voluntarily commit to higher standards of operations and transparency.

This workshop will start by reviewing the history of corporate governance in the US and then explore current environmental, social, and governance (ESG) trends that are redefining success in business. You will learn the difference between a Benefit Corporation, a Certified B Corp, & a Social Purpose Corporation as well as the special tax incentives the City of Spokane has for Certified B Corps.
