Meet Mayor Nadine Woodward

Nadene WoodwardIn prioritizing public safety, Mayor Woodward put more officers in neighborhoods by opening police precincts in East Central and downtown and implemented a new police staffing model that makes the department more visible and engaged with the neighborhoods they serve. Under Mayor Woodward’s leadership, the City entered into a regional partnership that not only is more efficient, but is also more cost-effective in sending help when people call with fire and emergency medical needs. Mayor Woodward’s efforts in working on the homelessness issue has resulted in partnerships that have added more than 500 consistent spaces for individuals and families without housing to get out of the weather and access services. Her efforts to streamline permitting processes and a nationally recognized pilot program that adds new home-ownership options have come during a period where new residential construction has reached new levels.

She is the 45th mayor of Spokane and the fourth woman to hold the office.
