*Due to the popularity of our programs, attendance is limited to educators only*

Local middle and high school educators (classroom teachers, counselors, advisors, etc.) are invited to attend a free 2-stop workshop to learn about the various healthcare jobs and career pathways available in our region, specifically at the VA and Sunshine Health!

This workshop will provide you with knowledge about the extensive nursing, post-acute, mental health, rehabilitation, home health, and other services that are alive in our region as you work to better prepare and guide your students through decisions during and post-high school. Hear from local professionals, visit two different facilities and earn clock hours when you attend!

Stop 1 (7:30-9:30 a.m.)

Spokane Mann-Grandstaff VA will begin the morning by hosting attendees at their campus (breakfast is included!). This part of the workshop will provide attendees with knowledge about the various entry level and well as post-college options for students as they consider employment with the Federal Government. Attendees will have an opportunity to meet and ask questions of supervisors from various departments. These decision makers will offer advice on what they are looking for in successful applicants for these highly sought after positions. Supervisors will also outline pathways to promotion and advancement, to include scholarship opportunities unique to the VA.

Stop 2 (10 a.m.-12 p.m.)

For the last two hours of the workshop, attendees are invited to come and learn about the varied professions and career pathways at local, family owned and operated, Sunshine Health Facilities Inc., who is celebrating 70 years in Spokane. This portion of the workshop will provide you with knowledge about nursing and other healthcare related fields within the post-acute arena, long term nursing care, rehabilitation services, adult family home care, mental health, memory care, and home health services. You will also learn about our partnerships with local nursing assistant training schools and partnerships with local colleges and universities providing education in healthcare at the certified, undergraduate and graduate level.

A tour and hands-on learning activity will also be involved at both locations.
