State Ag Director Meets With Agribusiness Leaders in Spokane

Bud Hover

Donald “Bud” Hover, the Director of the Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA), met on July 11 with Spokane-area agribusiness leaders.

Hover’s visit was a simple meet-and-greet, and the Ag Director was able to say a few words to the group during the two-hour event.

Bringing Hover to Spokane was a great way to showcase the agribusiness sector in the area and introduce him to what’s happening in our region. Hover began his role at the WSDA on April 1 and is responsible for statewide animal health, plant inspections, food safety, fruit and grain inspection and certification, weights and measures, pesticide registration and marketing the state’s agriculture products to the nation and world.

Hover also played football at Washington State University and for two seasons with the Washington Redskins in the NFL.

Thanks to Greater Spokane Incorporated’s AgriBusiness Council, the Far West Agribusiness Association and Northwest Farm Credit Services for bringing Hover to Spokane.
