The beginning of a new school year brings new opportunities with Business AfterSchool and Teaching the Teachers. Learn more about each program and see the schedules for fall 2018.
Business AfterSchool provides hands on learning opportunities in a variety of high-demand industry sectors through workshops around new technology, research, development, and innovation. These workshops are an opportunity for middle and high school students, families and the community to see the ins and outs of an organization and expose students to a variety of potential careers. These workshops also help businesses generate excitement through having the opportunity to connect with and begin training the next generation of talent in our region.
“My advice to other students is to attend all of the workshops you can. They really helped me narrow down my choices for a career path and provided me with a lot of knowledge.”
– Millea Rosario, Student at Inchelium High School
“I see my students’ eyes twinkle all the time at these workshops because they’re learning something new and exciting. I personally like learning about what is out there at these workshops because it makes me want to go to school again!”
– Maura Ruiz, College Success Foundation College Prep Advisor at Lewis and Clark High School

Teaching the Teachers is an opportunity for businesses and educators to connect and discuss what the future of the business world looks like for students. Through a three-hour workshop that is hosted and led by a local business, educators are exposed to the various career paths and opportunities that await their students.
Businesses: Talented workers are crucial for your business to be successful. By hosting a Teaching the Teachers workshop, you have an opportunity to showcase your company to educators by highlighting the types of jobs available in your company as well as what skills are the most vital to your industry. The knowledge shared is then used by the educators to better prepare their students for an ever-changing, dynamic job market.
Educators: You want to equip your students to be successful. By attending a Teaching the Teachers workshop, you will learn about what career paths are available to your students including what skills businesses are specifically looking for. You can then share that information with your students to get them excited and prepared for their future career. These workshops also provide clock hour credits for professional development to those that attend.
Our first workshop for this school year is on October 23rd: Craft(ED) with BumbleBar, Dry Fly and Arbor Crest.
