Host a Business Workshop for Teaching the Teachers

Picture 047GSI is now seeking member businesses to host Teaching the Teachers (T3) workshops for the 2016-2017 school year. These workshops connect teachers with businesses throughout the Spokane region, where educators gain valuable information about the skills their students need to be successful beyond graduation. T3 workshops also provide teachers with professional development and an insight into business that allows them to bring career awareness into the classroom.

Hosts for the T3 program provide a real-life look at their business, and discuss the types of skills and training involved with their industry. GSI works with workshop hosts to create an engaging program that will have the maximum impact in the classroom. We believe businesses in the region are experts in their field, and are the most effective training vehicle to reach teachers and students, providing career opportunities in the future.

One T3 business participant, Stacia Franz, PHR Human Resources Director at St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Institute, said, “Teaching the Teachers was an excellent opportunity for St. Luke’s to collaborate with local teachers to create awareness about the healthcare careers for our future workforce.”

Since the T3 program began in 2007, GSI has provided 850 educators who teach more than 21,000 students. Teachers from more than 15 different school districts throughout the Spokane region attend the workshops, leaving a lasting impression and providing a direct link from the workplace to the classroom. Host a workshop today and connect with the talent your business needs in the future.

To become a host for the 2016-2017 Teaching the Teachers program, or to receive more information, please contact Bri Anne Miller, Education and Workforce Program Coordinator.
